A few weeks ago I finally had the chance to see Dilated Peoples live ! They performed during a dutch Hip Hop festival… it was great, they really lived up to my expectations which is always good.
There’s nothing worst than being disappointed by a group you like.
Well Dilated Peoples gave us a very good show.
Babu showed us his great dj’ing skills and Evidence & Rakaa Iriscience did also some solo stuff. I was only able to film 2 songs because Mr. n95’s batteries were low …
I enjoyed every song they performed, I really recommend you to go and see them when they are performing near you. You wont regret it.
Enough talking… here are the 2 vids :

SPOKEN!
SPOKEN is a spoken word event in Amsterdam! It’s something new ,something that I really enjoy going to. Last Wednesday was the second edition. The performers were great! Everybody in their own way of course. I’ve only filmed 2 of the acts with my phone. First is Giovanca, a young singer from Amsterdam, with a very sweet voice and appearance. She was very charismatic on stage and connected great with the audience. She performed a few of her songs in a spoken word way, she also did a song that she hasn’t released yet which I really loved! It really touched me, her lyrics described how a lot of people I know(including myself) feel. I’m glad I was able to film that, now I can watch it whenever I want to.
You can watch it also :
And after Giovanca, mister Pete Philly came and conquered the stage with his amusing performance. What an entertainer! Love his spontaneity , he really has shown us two sides. A funny guy that loves to joke around but also can be serious , you can watch the switch between funny and serious below. First he talks about how he hooks up with a girl and then the other is about a break up and overcoming certain aspects of it. Enjoyed his performance very much and damn the man looks lovely! haha sorry just had to say it. Enough talking, watch the vid:
Onyx live !
Last week on the 15th of March I finally got to see Onyx live! Fredro Starr and Sticky Fingaz came and gave a hell of a show. Still wondering where Sonsee was…guess i’ve been missin’ out on some Onyx-news-updates but ok. Their performance rocked my world. Can’t say anything bad about them. Here are a few vids I made that evening:
Heltah Skeltah…
Yesterday I finally got the chance to see Ruck&Rock perform together in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. I really had a great time! They did all their classics and also a few solo tracks , I have nothing bad to say about them. The crowd was hyped up as hell,I went all over the place just because everybody was pushing each other around and I’m not that strong to push people away so I just go with the flow…
Here’s a vid I made yesterday while they were performing ‘Everything is Heltah Skeltah’.
Victory for M.O.&Brakko
Yesterday I posted that I was going to the finals of Grote Prijs v. Nederland, where dutch hiphop acts were competing for some great prices.
I went there to support M.O.&Brakko,Concrete and Manu. I wanted M.O.&Brakko to win the first price,Concrete the best musician award and Manu the audience award .
Well not everything went according to my plan!
TheFringe won the best musician and the audience award.
M.O&Brakko won the first price so that went the way I wanted to!! I was on cloud nine…actually I still am on cloud nine. They really deserved it! Here’s a vid of the moment PAX (the best host ever!)announces their vicotry!

808’s and Heartbreak !
I’m hooked on Kayne’s 808’s and Heartbreak!!This is weird because I really didn’t like any of the songs that he has released of this album. Today I saw that there was a possibility to listen to 808’s&Heartbreak for free, through Luisterpaal. A website that streams the newest albums. I had nothing to lose and gave it a listen. I’m really feeling Kanye’s lyrics; they are not too complicated but still express the emotions he wants to share with the listener. The beats have something special because they’re different than what I usually expect from him. It took me a sec to get use to the auto tune, I’m not a fan of that style but only Kanye can get away with it!
I read somewhere that they didn’t feel Kanye’s pain because of the beats and the auto tune and that it created somewhat of a distance between the artist and the listener. With me is the opposite, I think because of the auto tune and the futuristic beats the listener drowns in his music. It’s one very interesting journey through his feelings.
I really like each song off the album, they all fit well together. I think that’s why everybody should listen to the CD so they can just take a look in the world of 808’s & Heartbreak, listening to only one song isn’t enough. Trust me.
When you listen to the album, try to be open minded, only then you’ll discover the beauty of it.
For now my favorite song is Welcome to Heartbreak ft Kid CuDi, the lyrics…the beat … it has the whole package. It’s about the difference between the life of a ‘regular’ man and a superstar. The superstar realizes how shallow his life is in comparance with the life of the regular guy. I fell in love with the song as soon as the beat kicked in and I heard the first line ‘My friend showed me pictures of his kids and all I could show him were pictures of my cribs.’
All I can say is that I’ve got a lot of respect for the fact that Kanye dared to take such a huge risk by doing a whole album with auto tune and experimental beats. But it all worked out great.
Miss BurstMyBubble is not a hater anymore!

ROFed
Yesterday was RoF! (see the post below)
M.O.&Brakko,Manu and Blaxtar came ,saw and conquered the Ekko. I also made a short report together with ReaZun&Nickisdesjit for HABEKtv,i’ll post it when the editting is done.
I enjoyed the whole evening.
RoF! started with M.O. & Brakko, 2 rappers from Bijlmer(Amsterdam) whose debut album ‘Catharsis’ surprised dutch hiphop fanatics. Their boombap beats and rhymes create a good hiphop vibe for the audience to bounce on. They manage to find a good balance between tracks that are about serious subjects and others that are more about lighter subjects. This is also one of the reasons that their shows are enjoyable. The first time that I saw them perform was in August this year and now only 4 months later I see an incredible progress in the way they’re on stage. I’m really glad that they’ve came this far and hope that they’ll stay on this road and keep up the good work. They show that they’re not only talented but also driven.I’m looking forward to the next time that I’ll see them perform. Here’s a vid I made with my phone during their show, they were performing their song ‘Geen haat’ that will be featured on the Bijlmersyle 3 CD.
The second act of the evening was Manu. A rapper that opened a lot of eyes with his first solo album ‘De vloek op de overvloed’. Some people dont like his style because they think he talks too much about gouvernment related issues and is too critical about the way of life in the Netherlands&the Western World but I think those people just aint ready to hear the truth yet. His live appearance is always one crazy rollercoaster through different vibes. You can expect a slow song and after that one song that makes the crowd jump around like animals. He reflects the energy that he gets from the audience and gives them what they’ve payed for. I’m sure that everybody was very pleased with his performance.
Here’s a vid of his first solo track ‘Minister President’(I got a little carried away at the beginning of the song):
Last but not least, the third act of RoF! was Blaxtar,I’ve been hooked on his music thanks to my lovely friend Maike. She just forced me to listen to his songs and now I cant stop listening. He has 2 great albums and is apparentley working on his third one. Now the third one might be in english or bilingual because he did a new track during his show and it was in english. This is not new for him,the man has been rappin’ in English for the last 10 years I think. But the two albums on his name are dutch. I like his music in both languages so for me it doesn’t matter. The new song sounded good and Pax approved it,so it will be a hit.:P
Blaxtar is I think the rapper with the most stage experience of the 3 acts during RoF! and you can see that by the way he interacts with his audience. He kinda makes his performance a conversation between us and him. The audience is never bored, you can bounce on the dope beats he has or listen to his intelligent rhymes. He really has a great stage presence, even if he’s alone he still takes over the stage.Eventhough he had a baaldag,he still gave a good performance during RoF! I dont have any footage of him on my phone because I filmed for the HABEKtv item with another camera and that camera is not here with me. Here’s a videoclip he made for the virusfreegeneration together with Tha Gosple. Here he raps in English.

JAZZMATAZZed
Last sunday,November the 9th, I went to Guru’s Jazzmatazz show in Utrecht(The Netherlands).I was ready for a jazzy/hiphop evening and I really wanted to see Guru live, the man has made classics and is in my town so for me as a hiphopfan this was something I had to see.
Eventhough I’m more fan of the Gangstarr tracks than the Jazzmatazz ones but ok.
I enjoyed the performance although I expected a bigger musical experience than just a dj,trompet player and a guy that could start his own one man band .. really the dude played like 4 instruments (not at the same time) that evening. It would’ve been nice to see a band than just 3 people. Guru did his thing great though,he was on point the whole show.I’ve uploaded a few vids for u guys, the most are acapella because my phone cant handle the bass.
Oh yeah he also did a few Gangstarr tracks,I went insane when I heard Mass Appeal and filmed it but the quality is just too bad for uploading.
